Jason Riggs: La Musica

"Every Word" from the album "These Wheels"

(words and music by Jason Riggs)
Lyrics

Tonight you’re mine so deeply
Asleep with your head on my chest.
I’m exhausted but I’m wide awake
Don’t want to sleep, I don’t want to rest
Because tomorrow it all comes down
You go your way and I’ll go mine
What I’d give for one more day
What I’d do to stop the hands of time

So when you look back on this night
Everything I said, all the promises you heard
I hope you’ll know it in your heart
Darling, I meant every word

Aint it funny how used to you I’ve got.
Like I’ve been here all along
Seems you find someone you can love
Then that someone is gone, gone
Cause we come from two different worlds
Separated by more than time and space
In your arms it feels like home
In your eyes I’ve found my place

So when you look back on this night
Everything I said, all the promises you heard
I hope you’ll know it in your heart
Darling, I meant every word

So tragic we have to part
When we both feel so right
I’m so lucky that I found you
Guess my luck runs out tonight
Naïve to think we’ll meet again
With the notion that nothing will have changed
But I know I’ll hold you close
In your arms I’ll know everything’s the same

So when I see youI wont hold
I’ll make good on all the promises you heard
I hope you’ll know it, baby in your heart
Darling, I meant every single word
Darling, I meant every word
Every word except goodbye
Every word except goodbye
‘Cause I’ll see you again someday
Yeah, we’ll meet again someday
Put your arms around me now
The Story

"Once or twice in a lifetime, if you're really lucky, you meet a special person who elevates you above your surroundings.
Someone who can make a 1989 Ford Escort feel like a 1965 Ford Mustang.
Someone who can make the road from Oklahoma City to Memphis feel like a Sunday afternoon drive.
Someone who can make that $35 a night Motel 7 feel like the Super 8.
Someone who can make you forget that there's a cracked mirror on the ceiling, a flickering 'no vacancy' light outside the window, and a coin receptor to the left of the vibrating bed.
So strong is the feeling of love and passion, that for one minute you feel like you're in a palace waiting for the clock to strike midnight. And if you're really, really lucky, it wont be the last time you see her."
